Fins Up — Big Things Are Coming from Nero & the Gang

Howdy, friends—

Welcome to the not-so-monthly dispatch from Nero Simon & the Sunsetters. We promise not to flood your inbox. Mostly because we're not organized enough to flood anything except maybe a backstage cooler.

Every couple of months or so, we'll wander in here with a few tales from the road, new music, and whatever mild coastal chaos is currently brewing. And lately, there's been plenty.

MARGARITATOWN has been on a roll. We've been lucky enough to play to standing room-only crowds in Ellijay, Athens, Duluth, Macon and beyond, with a whole bunch of Parrotheads, beach bums and otherwise respectable citizens joining us for the ride.

Next up, we're bringing the MARGARITATOWN circus to Calhoun's GEM Theatre, followed by a very special night at Eddie's Attic in Decatur on Sept 20th. You can grab your tickets for Eddie's right here:

Apparently they keep letting us do this.

BUFFETT DAY IS ALMOST HERE

Our Buffett Day Bash is right around the corner, and we’re getting ready for a full afternoon of music, friends, cold drinks and celebration of the man who convinced several generations that wearing a parrot on your head was perfectly reasonable behavior.

It all goes down Sunday, August 30 at Roswell Junction, hosted by yours truly — Nero Simon & the Sunsetters. We’ll be joined by our very special guest, Jeff Pike of A1A, along with Nashville-based Trop Rocker Mark Mulch and local favorites Magnolia Express.

It’s shaping up to be one big Atlanta-area gathering of Parrotheads, Trop Rockers, beach bums and anyone else who believes a Sunday afternoon is better with a little Buffett in it.

Fins up. Hawaiian shirts encouraged. Good judgment optional.

IT'S ME OR THE BOAT

Meanwhile, our new single "It's Me Or The Boat" has started making its way onto Trop Rock radio stations around the country. It's a laid-back coastal folk tale about one of life's great dilemmas: The woman you love... or the boat you love.

Choose carefully. The song officially washes ashore everywhere Wednesday, August 26.

AND THEN WE'RE HEADING SOUTH...

Labor Day weekend finds us back in Apalachicola, Florida for Fins Up On The Forgotten Coast Music Fest. Which means music, oysters, cold beverages and a statistically significant possibility that someone in this band will make a poor hat-related decision. Probably Jumpin' Steve. Exactly how Labor Day weekend should be.

So that's the latest from Sunsetter Headquarters. Thanks for listening to the songs, buying the tickets, showing up, singing along, telling your friends, and continuing to encourage this strange little coastal-rock adventure of ours. We'll disappear back into the mist now.

See you somewhere down the road.

— Nero & the merry gang of Sunsetters

Beachy vibes. Strange adventures. Music for the sun-soaked soul.
